Description
For your consideration: a Dutch formal morning coat (jacquet), c.1910s/1920s. Atypical and period details include: notch lapels; natural shoulders (minimally padded); single-button closure; woven silk-covered buttons; barchetta-style chest pocket; center hook vent; two decorative buttons at vent; fully-lined and half-canvassed; 3 non-functioning buttons per sleeve; 2 interior breast pockets; boutonniere loop; hand-rolled lapels; and hand-attached collar. Interior label reads “B. W. Sessink & Zonen / Baak bij Zutphen”.Made by B. W. Sessink & Sons of Baak, Netherlands. Bernardus Wilhelmus Sessink (1859-1929) was a merchant tailor based in the village of Baak near Zutphen in Gelderland, Netherlands; his son Wilhelmus Jacobus Laurentius Sessink (b. 1892) acquired the rights to the business in 1927, after which it was renamed.
